Football Season Week 4: Mississippi State vs. LA Tech

Finally! A Saturday home game! Our game was a night game so I was thrilled we had all day to tailgate and also didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to tailgate before the game.

I started out the day with a quick run before getting ready for the tailgate and game.

I had on my maroon MSU running shorts for gameday.

(No, I rarely make the bed. I am ridiculously OCD about other things but for some reason I hate making the bed. No judgement haha)

This week it was a “blackout” (when are we going to wear MAROON??):

Zach and I in our blackout outfits. I have a maroon cami under my dress…kind of hard to see!

A close up where y’all can see the maroon!

One of the tailgating treats I made: chocolate covered pretzels with red/maroon sprinkles! So yummy!

Zoe girl had a great time tailgating as usual! She just cracks me up she’s so funny! She sat on the tailgating chair…

…in my lap…

…and in the middle of the cornhole game! Silly girl.

It was Amanda’s first tailgate at MSU!

We stopped by the Bagley College of Engineering tailgate for some free ice cream

and took some nerd herd pictures

George’s outfit was quite the conversation starter! Check out those pants!

After several hours of eating, playing cornhole and socializing, we headed into the stadium for the game

It was also Emily and her husband Eric’s first SEC football game/tailgate as well!

Go Dawgs!

MSU won the game against LA Tech 36-30…in OVERTIME. I thought it was a rather pitiful embarassing performance for a team who started out the season ranked #16…GET IT TOGETHER DAWGS!

UF had another successful game against Kentucky! Way to go Gators!! 4-0!!!

And another highlight of the day: Ole Miss lost (GTHOM) and so did Florida State! Clemson has just been AWESOME so far this season! Go Tigers!

Let's Talk Football: Recap of Football Season Weeks 1-3

Y’all know how much I love football season! I can’t believe we’ve already been through 4 weeks of football! Time is flying!

Here is a recap of the first 3 weeks:

Week 1: MSU @ Memphis

MSU’s first 2 games of the season were away games! LAME! We had some friends over for the MSU-Memphis game to watch on TV and cheer on the Dawgs from Starkville.

Zoe loves having friends over. She wore her pink MSU bandana on the Memphis gameday! So stylish

Maroon family picture!

Zoe doesn’t always look at the camera so we ditched her for this one :)

Zoe and her momma. Self portraits were how we entertained ourselves during halftime!

MSU dominated Memphis and we started the season off with a win! Yay!

I was also thrilled to pieces that my Gators won their opening game vs. FAU on that Saturday as well!

Game 2: MSU @ Auburn, UF vs. UAB

This is obviously before the Auburn game, since we are smiling haha

Excited for the game to start. Go Dawgs!

Let’s just say the Auburn game made me pretty angry. I am the first to admit when one of my teams is outplayed and lost because the other team was just better. But that was not the case for this game. This game was an officiating nightmare.

Since when is a visible gap between the ball and the down markers a first down? At Auburn apparently.

After that disaster, we changed gears for the Florida vs. UAB game:

Wardrobe change! Go Gators!

Gator girls in Blue and Orange!

Teaching Zoe to Gator Chomp!

Little Gator family!

Florida shut out UAB and made the bad day much better. It’s great! To be! A Florida Gator!

Game 3: MSU vs. LSU, UF vs. Tennessee

Finally an MSU home game! I started off this Thursday gameday with a 4 mile run!

I only run on gamedays so I can stuff my face at the tailgate and not feel as bad about it later haha

This game was a white-out game, so we dressed in our best MSU white and headed to the Junction to tailgate!

Gameday! Go Dawgs!

Group shot! I was the only girl this game…good thing I had Zoe to keep me company and I definitely read a magazine in my tailgating chair in the Junction and could not have been more thrilled about it! I haven’t had any time to relax and read fun stuff in forever.

Zoe chowed down on a stuffed tiger…she’s definitely an MSU girl!

Zach’s crazy best friend Scott rigged up quite the maroon and white outfit, complete with tigers on a trident!

The Dawgs lost this hard fought game against LSU, who, if you ask me, definitely deserves the #1 ranking they have right now. They have impressed me this season. I was pleased with MSU’s performance vs. LSU’s crazy offense. LSU didn’t get a touchdown until the 4th quarter, and the final score was 6-19.

UF had a great game against Tennessee on the 3rd Saturday! I really enjoyed watching the game and seeing my Gators advance to 3-0! Go Gators!

The First of a Few Updates: Running

Oh Lawdy it’s been awhile since I posted! Grad school has been killing me! Add in any type of social time and/or relaxation and I have been swamped! I’m going to update y’all over the next few days and then hopefully I’ll be all caught up!

Today’s update: Running

As y’all know I’m training for my first half marathon in November. I’m really looking forward to running the half and transition into my next running phase by doing longer events.
So all was going great…

Yay 7 am! Love starting out the day with running!…

And then this happened:

I FELL! I was going to let in my friend Amanda who was coming to help me bake before the first football game of the season when I fell as hard as I could on my right knee. There was an inch of water in our entryway!! The apartment complex decided to power wash the exterior of the buildings and water had leaked all into the entryway and about 8 inches onto our carpet. Aside from the fact that I was not thrilled about the water all over the place, my knee swelled within seconds. Literally. So we took pictures, filed a report with the apartment, got in contact with the property’s insurance, etc. Forgetting about the legal logistics for the moment, I was furious because I’m training for a half! Luckily I didn’t endure too much pain. Since this happened on a Thursday, I did not run again until the following Wednesday. My knee felt ok, the run was awesome, but the soreness definitely came back pretty quickly post-run/shower. I’ve had to take it easy for a few weeks. My knee is still bruised and sensitive and occasionally stiff, but generally it feels pretty normal.

My legs look really weird in that picture…I swear they don’t look like that in real life…

I’ve had several great runs including before tailgating on Saturday:

Yay Go State!
I had a blister that I thought had healed but I guess not! It bled right through my shoe!

Sick. I should prob clean my shoe. Today I wore a band-aid haha!
Today I ran an awesome 5.25 miles before work.
Extremely glamorous self portrait at 6:45 am.

And post 5-ish miles! I’m so thrilled to be back to my routine! Although this picture doesn’t look like I am excited…
Sweet mascara raccoon eyes.
Happy Wednesday! Only 2 more days till football the weekend!

Also: I'm in the process of switching over to Wordpress. If y'all have Wordpress or like to follow by e-mail, visit www.ashleyrunning.com. I'm trying to make it where my blog posts will appear on the Blogger newsfeed...any advice I would LOVE it!

What I've Been Up To (Post August 31, 2011)

Posted on ashleyrunning.com on August 31, 2011

Sorry for my absence! This has been a crazy past week at school trying to take a ton of data, etc. I’m trying not to let my frustrations get to me and keep trying…I will find the solution to my project’s problems! :) In the meantime, I have:

20110830-092231.jpg

Hung out with my sweet girl :) How could I not have a better day after seeing this face?

20110830-092328.jpg

Made cookies with Zach

20110830-092303.jpg

We made these really fudgey double chocolate chip cookies! They were really yummy!

20110830-092349.jpg

Stood in line for FOUR AND A HALF hours for football tickets…which was totally unnecessary. I made sure my opinions/suggestions of the organization of football tickets was known to the athletic director haha.

Amanda, Emily, Zach and I all waited together and were hot and thirsty! I missed the “nice photo” memo…I thought it was supposed to be a “tell me how you really feel” photo

20110830-092401.jpg

Zach missed the “nice photo” memo here!

And here is my mini-rant for the week…

20110830-092435.jpgJeep…WHY did you park in the middle of 2 spots? If you had parked not like a jerk, I could have parked there…

20110830-092450.jpg

Or here…20110830-092510.jpg

Or here!

WHAT is with the inconsiderate people in the parking lots?!?! I think I may post-it a sweet note on their cars…

And keep in mind, I don’t drive a truck. I don’t drive an SUV…I drive20110830-092532.jpg

A COBALT. It’s SMALL. COMPACT. If I can’t fit in those half-spots…then you know there is a problem with your “parking skills”.

How is parking at your school?

Hope y’all have been having a good week :) Running update tomorrow!
