Weekend at the Coast!

This past weekend, I headed down to the Gulf Coast with Mary Catherine. Liza's momma was visiting her this weekend so she couldn't come with us. We missed her and will definitely have to plan another trip she can come on! Friday night we just drove down to Mobile where my friend George lives (we stayed with him). We all went out to supper at Friday's then just called in an early night since we were all exhausted and MC was getting over strep throat. Saturday we woke up and headed to the Foley outlets and went shopping!
We thought this jacket was odd...it was like $300 and kinda looked like a hobo coat.
After lunch we were finishing up shopping when it started pouring. So we decided to head to the Gulfport, MS outlets and go to Target and Michaels. After 12 hours of shopping we met George for supper at a really good sushi restaurant in Mobile and got Krispy Kreme after!
Sunday we woke up and the forecast was looking pretty rainy for Gulf Shores again, so we headed to Pensacola! Y'all know how much I love my Florida!
Beautiful beach!
Love topsiders much?
There were 2 swans IN the water at the beach! They were swimming all around the people! I had never seen anything like it!
The water was amazing!

MC floating! The water was really relaxing
After the beach we had lunch at Hemingway's and it was really good!
Since I was in Florida I had to get me some Key Lime Pie!
We stopped off at Bass Pro on the way back to Alabama. George was playing with guns so we goofed off and tried on camo.
MC and I headed back to Starkville after we packed up our stuff at George's. Great weekend! And I didn't do too much damage at the outlets! I mostly got stuff I needed.
I did find this adorable kitchen towel at a store in Foley. Go State!
Monday was ticket day at Mississippi State! We woke up early to go get in line to get our student tickets!
I got my student tickets for all the home games as well as away tickets for my fall road trips! LSU, Alabama, Florida, and Ole Miss! I'll also be heading to Knoxville at some point to see Jim!
Look who was handing out donuts to the students in line! Coach Mullen! Go Dawgs (and GATORS!!)

This week and next we will be preparing for our first home game and tailgating! Liza and I are going to make maroon and white dresses and cups for the game! I'm glad she can sew well because I can't! I'm very excited for football season!

Incommunicado

I've been a terrible blogger this week I know! School started this week at Mississippi State and I have just been so busy! I have spent way too much time here:

...my building at school (Swalm, for those of you who follow me on Twitter and see my tweets about Swalm). It's a lovely building, home to my delightful office and perfectly great labs but...it still feels like summer outside and I am not ready to go back to school! I only have one class this semester thankfully but I have TONS of lab work to do, a thesis to start, and I'm TA-ing a class of 73 students! In Chem E! Dang that's a lot of papers to grade.
But this weekend I will be here:
Gulf Shores, Alabama
Drinking many of these:
And these:
And doing a little damage here:
so I can relax for a weekend before the crazy fun of fall semester and football season starts up here in Starkville! Only 15 days.....:)

Happy weekend y'all!

I'm cheering you on Tim Tebow!

Y'all know I'm a HUGE Gators fan. Florida has had some pretty great seasons the past few years, and I'm confident the Gators can have a successful season this fall, even without some great players from the past few seasons (Cooper, one of the Pounceys, Haden)...but the person even people who aren't Gator fans will notice missing...Tim Tebow. Whether or not you like the Gators, you can't deny the fact that Tebow is an amazing football player. Brantley is a great QB, but he ain't Tim Tebow. Luckily for Gator Nation, we can all still watch Timmy in orange and blue as a Denver Bronco. So while he won't be doing this anytime soon:

Hopefully we will see lots more of this:

One of the best birthday presents I got this year was one of these:
a Tebow Broncos jersey. I'm REALLY hoping to make it to Denver over Christmas break to bring a little Florida sunshine and cheer on one of my favorite Gators.
(Excuse the face)
So Tebow, while you may not be at the Swamp this season, you still have Gator Nation cheering you on with our blue and orange blood! GO GATORS (and Broncos!)!

And for my Mississippi State shoutout of the day, the new 49ers RB Anthony Dixon rushed for 100 yards on 21 carries for the 49ers to beat the Colts 37-17 in yesterday's preseason game. Go State!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Happy Friday (the 13th)!! Are any of y'all superstitious about this date? I think I'm a little more wary of other superstitions personally! This weekend is the last weekend of summer vacation :( I had a great summer though! A trip to Rhode Island, a week in Florida, a fabulous birthday, saw Dave Matthews and Jimmy Buffett in concert, and had lots of fun with my friends. This weekend I'm going to try and make sure my room is spotless and all laundry and cleaning is done so I don't have to worry about it the first week of class. At least I don't start until next Thursday so it's not too bad, and I only have 1 class. The rest of the time I will be in the lab collecting data for my thesis! I'm also going to relax and sleep and hopefully see a movie. I want to see Charlie St. Cloud or Eat, Pray, Love. Anyone see those? If so tell me how they were! Next weekend I'm off to Gulf Shores which I'm really looking forward to, and then only a couple more weeks until football season! I'm sorry I've been slacking so much with my blog-it's been a super busy past few weeks in the lab! But I'm happy to report that I've been getting successful results this week so keep your fingers crossed! Enjoy your weekend!!

Random musings

I have been MIA lately! I'm sorry y'all! I've just been busy in the lab and trying to enjoy the last 2 weeks of vacation before class starts up again (a week from tomorrow!)
I have a very busy fall semester ahead but I am so excited for it!

1. I can't wait for football season. Only 25 more days till I'm out in the Junction cheering on the Dawgs and of course, cheering on my Gators (even if it's from Starkville).
Go State!
Go Gators!
I can't wait till they play each other in the Swamp...October 16. Chomp chomp :)

2. I'm really excited to head to Gulf Shores in 2 weekends for a relaxing beach and shopping weekend with these ladies!
Mary Catherine and Liza!

3. I'm excited to see this fella in Knoxville the second weekend in September for a little UT football!
Jim!
Once my research project finally starts working the way I want it to (which should be any day now) I'll post a few recipes and ideas I have for y'all! And my trips and activities this fall will have tons of pictures up on here!

The end of the 30 Day Blog Challenge

Day 22: A website
Since the first day of football season is only a month away (but whose counting), I decided to send y'all to the True Maroon website (click here). True Maroon is the words that describe the spirit of Mississippi State (where most of y'all know I go to grad school). I absolutely love my Gators with all my heart and will always be a Gator girl, but I also love Mississippi State and the way the whole town has such Bulldawg spirit. A girl can have 2 teams right? Hail State!
Hail Dear 'Ole State
Fight for that victory today!
Hit that line and tote that ball!
Cross the goal before you fall!
And then we'll yell, yell, yell, yell!
For dear 'ole State we'll yel like H-E-L-L!
Fight for Mis-sis-sip-pi State!
Go to hell Ole Miss! Go State!
Go check out the True Maroon website to learn more about what True Maroon is
This video gives me chills and gets me even more excited for football season! Go Dawgs! (and of course GO GATORS!)

Day 23: A way in which you want to be remembered
I want to be remembered as a happy, smart, caring person who is loyal to the ends of the earth and always tried her hardest. A good friend, sister, daughter, wife, mother...wherever life brings me.

Day 24: A movie no one would expect you to love

The Departed
I love this dang movie. Normally I'm not much of an action movie person; I tend to pick chick flics or comedy, but I love The Departed. It also doesn't hurt that Matt Damon looks so good as a State Trooper.

Day 25: A recipe
So y'all know I've been going to the gym and trying to eat better. Mary Catherine gave me this recipe for Hungry Girl muffins. It only takes 2 ingredients and they were really good!
Take a box of Devils Food cake mix and a can of pumpkin puree. Mix very thoroughly (the batter will be really thick). Spray a cupcake pan with nonstick spray like Pam, scoop into cupcake pan and cook for about 15 minutes at 400 degrees or until a knife comes out clean. They are so yummy and also only 183 calories! I personally added a few mini chocolate chips to mine to add a little something (but only a few!). So good!

Day 26: A childhood memory

For as long as I can remember, we went out on my grandparent's boat. I love being on the water and it is so relaxing to take a boat ride.
Here is my sister and I (I think I am about 7 or 8 and she is 5 or 6) on the boat. We loved getting to steer!

Day 27: A physical feature you love
I've always been a fan of green eyes. I think they are unique and I am grateful to have them! :)

Day 28: A scar you have and its story

This is the most boring scar story ever. I have a scar on my thumb from accidentally cutting myself with a razor blade in the lab while trying to get melted polymer off the metal form.
Excuse the background, I took this picture in the lab! Haha

Day 29: Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days
In the next year, I will get my master's degree, hopefully either have a job or the opportunity to go on in school, have fun with a great guy, enjoy time with my friends and make lots of new memories, and just enjoy life!

Day 30: A motto or philosophy

"The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea" Isak Dinesen

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday everyone!
This past weekend was fairly low key but a good one at that! Friday after the gym, Caitlin and I made pizza and these fabulous desserts:
They are double chocolate chip cookies with the chocolate chip fudge frosting in between. It's a chocolate sandwich! We both had a long week and invented these fabulous desserts (don't remind me that they completely defeated the point of us going to the gym)!
Saturday we went to nearby Columbus, MS for some errands, and then for the rest of the weekend I pretty much just did laundry and cleaned and relaxed! I did get to take care of these two this weekend:

Daisy on the left and Baily on the right! Their mama (Liza) was out of town for a wedding! They are so cute I just love them to pieces! I also met one of our new roommates on Sunday. She stopped by the house to drop some things off and will be back Tuesday. This past year I only had one roommate, Randall, but this year we got two more! Amy and Morgan, who will be here this week! Today is just a busy day in the lab but I have been productive. I'm going to finish out the 30 Day Blog Challenge this week (I'm not gonna lie, kind of sick of it haha!). Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Later y'all!
